MassAI packs an Ion fist.
Sometimes you may wish to investigate a modification of uncertain mass, or to broaden your window of PTM masses
The built-in "Ion fist" algorithm allows you to search through your dataset with a broad, yet defined mass tolerance.
The Ion Fist algorithm reverses the standard search sequence, and thus prioritises the number of recognised fragment ions, before dealing with the mass-difference. This way, you can observe modifications that fall outside what you would normally search for.
Although this approach can potentially lead to very large searches, the algorithm in MassAI is highly optimised and generally produces excellent results within minutes, still using only a standard PC.
